Limewire Forced By The Law To Shut Down

The ones that have gone with the limewire alternative for so many years will be pretty much disappointed when they will hear about the limewire shut down. After many years of being the perfect platform for pirating music, videos and many other types of files, Limewire has been slapped by the strong and rugged arm of the law.

The one that founded the network is none other than Mark Gorton which delved into launching the famous p2p application in the year of 2000. When Limewire was launched in that day, it was the only application of the time that would have firewall-to-firewall file transfers supported.

Even though it had a ton of features, it also had some disadvantages and mostly these disadvantages were regarding the privacy of the users. Thus, you could accidentally have it configured so that anyone will be able to access the documents that are found in your computer, which yes, was not too much of a cheer.

When it comes to the music industry, it was going to take a punch that would leave it unconscious. If the music industry was worth fourteen billion dollars in 1999, in 2009, that sum was shaved off by 50%. Because the users were downloading all the music they needed from this network, there was no reason more for them to go to the store and buy the albums.

Thus, Limewire will be on trial and it will have to cover for all of the damages that it has done to millions of artists for so much time.
